SACRAMENTO – It could be quite a 4th of July weekend for some lucky California Lottery player…especially if they plan on playing MEGA Millions Friday night.
That's because since no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's draw, Friday night's jackpot will be worth a whopping $105 million.
Friday night's jackpot marks the first time since March that the MEGA Millions jackpot amount has surpassed the $100 million mark. While no one matched six numbers on Tuesday night, one lucky California ticket sold in Los Angeles managed to match five of six numbers to claim a prize worth a hefty $701,316.
That ticket has yet to be claimed.
The estimated cash option for Friday night's draw is $68.1 million. The largest MEGA Millions jackpot ever won was $390 million in March 2007, with a cash option of $233 million. The retailer that sells the jackpot-winning ticket will receive a bonus of $525,000.
