Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL31.37, 0.57) is seeking billions of dollars in damages from Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) in a patent and copyright infringement lawsuit. Oracle claims that Google's Android software uses technology related to the Java programming language. Shares of Oracle added 2.63 percent, or 83 cents, to trade at $31.64, while Google's shares slipped 1.02 percent, or $5.11, to trade at $495.25.
Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS:137.83,1.73) shares added 1.78 percent, or $2.45, to trade at $138.45 amidst reports that analysts at Atlantic Equities LLP slashed its second quarter profit estimate to $2.14 per share from their previous $3.49 a share.
