Hot Stocks Of The Day: RIMM, NDAQ, BJ, UPS, ORCL, GOOG, GS

etfvol_tplq.jpg (350×235)The U.S. stock indexes started the week's last day trading on a positive note as French President Nicolas Sarkozy hinted at a deal to ease Greece's debt crisis. The Dow Jones industrial average added 0.69 percent, or 82.42 points, to trade at 12,043.94. The Nasdaq composite index gained 0.39 percent, or 10.67 points, to trade at 2,634.61. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up 0.78 percent, or 9.93 points, to trade at 1,277.78.

Hot Stocks of the Day: RIMM, NDAQ, BJ, UPS, ORCL, GOOG, GSShares of Research in Motion Ltd. (Nasdaq:RIMM27.95-7.38) slumped 19.53 percent, or $6.95, to trade at $28.39 as it announced that it may cut jobs and forecasted a drop in its quarterly revenue. The company expects revenue to be between $4.2 billion and $4.8 billion in the fiscal second-quarter.
Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ23.74, 0.01) CEO Bob Greifeld confirmed that the group is bidding for a minority stake in LCH Clearnet. Shares of NDAQ added 0.29 percent, or 8 cents, to trade at $23.81.
Shares of BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. (NYSE:BJ48.30.44) added 2.88 percent, or $1.38, to trade at $49.24 as it received an acquisition offer from private-equity firms Green Equity Investors, Leonard Green & Partners LP and CVC Capital Partners.
United Parcel Services Inc. (NYSE:UPS69.380.34) announced some sites in Great Britain are temporarily offline because of unspecified issues that arose during a scheduled security review. Shares gained 0.65 percent, or 45 cents, to trade at $69.49.
Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL31.370.57) is seeking billions of dollars in damages from Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) in a patent and copyright infringement lawsuit. Oracle claims that Google's Android software uses technology related to the Java programming language. Shares of Oracle added 2.63 percent, or 83 cents, to trade at $31.64, while Google's shares slipped 1.02 percent, or $5.11, to trade at $495.25.
Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS:137.83,1.73) shares added 1.78 percent, or $2.45, to trade at $138.45 amidst reports that analysts at Atlantic Equities LLP slashed its second quarter profit estimate to $2.14 per share from their previous $3.49 a share.
