NEW YORK (AP) — Former leader of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn is set to appear in a New York court this morning, where people familiar with the case say he could have his pricey bail reduced and restrictions on his house arrest eased. Investigators say the hotel maid Kahn is accused of raping lied about some of her activities in the hours around the reported rape and prosecutors believe the native of Guinea lied on her application for asylum.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota residents are waking up to closed Department of Motor Vehicle branches, closed state parks and no state child-care assistance for the poor. That's because the Democratic governor and Republican lawmakers couldn't agree on a new budget and how to close a $5 billion deficit. Gov. Mark Dayton said there would be no bill to keep the government running temporarily. So state government is shut down.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy says Dusan Klein's body was discovered Thursday by hikers on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The body of Klein's wife Renata was found in Angeles National Forest June 15.
MONACO (AP) — Long-time bachelor Prince Albert of Monaco gets married today. The 53 year-old's bride is 33 year-old South African ex-swimmer Charlene Wittstock. They'll marry in a civil ceremony in the same room where Albert's parents — Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier married 55 years ago.
