A lottery ticket worth $10,000 was purchased in Jacksonville, lottery officials announced Wednesday.
The Mega Millions ticket, purchased at 2945 Richlands Highway, matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win the prize Tuesday, according to information from the N.C. Education Lottery. The winning numbers for the drawing are: White Balls: 11-24-25-31-46 and Mega Ball: 17.
The lottery advises the winning ticket holder to sign it immediately to establish ownership. Players have 180 days from the date of a Mega Millions drawing to claim prizes. The nearest regional claim center is located in Greenville.
If the winner lives in Jacksonville, it would be the second $10,000 Mega Millions win for the city. Elma Orne, of Jacksonville, won a $10,000 prize in the April 27, 2010 Mega Millions drawing.
Onslow County players have won 22 big prizes playing Powerball. North Carolina Powerball tickets have led to wins of $10,000 to $400,000 for Onslow County players, including three so far this year. Frank Hartman III of Swansboro won $50,000 earlier this month.
Since the lottery began through June 30, 2010, Onslow County players have won more than $49.2 million in prizes. During the same time frame, Onslow County education programs have received more than $21.8 million in lottery funds.
