A single ticket won the Powerball jackpot Wednesday night. Unfortunately for Florida players, it was bought in Minnesota.
Powerball tickets were a hot commodity Wednesday and as a result, the estimated $220 million jackpot grew to $228.9 million by the drawing. The winner can take a lump-sum payment of $123.6 million.
It’s pretty rare, but on Saturday night the Florida Lottery Lotto jackpot will be bigger than the Powerball jackpot. Powerball starts over at $20 million, but Lotto grows to $38 million since there was not winner Wednesday night.
A dozen players in Florida came close to winning the jackpot.
Two of them matched the white balls to win $200,000 each. If they had spent another dollar on Power Play they would have won $1 million.
There were 10 tickets that matched four numbers and the Powerball. Just two of them used Power Play to multiply the prize from $10,000 to $40,000.
Winning numbers were 11, 18, 36, 41 and 46 and the Powerball was 38.
In Lotto, 42 tickets matched 5 of 6 numbers. Most won $6,501.50, but five tickets were bought with Xtra and are worth $26,006 each.
The numbers were 08, 36, 46, 47, 48 and 52.
Finally, there was a rolldown in Fantasy 5.
Those numbers were 07, 16, 19, 29 and 34.
