(NewsCore) - Brett Favre's agent on Monday attempted to shoot down rumors that his client was once again contemplating a return to the NFL.
Bus Cook told The Clarion-Ledger in Mississippi his client has not spoken to any team about coming out of retirement.
"Brett Favre retired in January. He has not talked to any teams, including [the] Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks," Cook said. "He has not talked to anyone about playing football. He's retired, period."
Speculation regarding the 41-year-old gunslinger's future continued Sunday after Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wrote on Twitter that he would be "honored" to have Favre as his backup in Philadelphia.
According to a report from Philadelphia sports radio station 610 WIP, the Eagles were interested in signing the retired 20-year veteran after current Eagles backup Kevin Kolb is traded.
Favre has not commented, but Vick made his thoughts on the situation clear.
"I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be amazing Learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career," Vick tweeted, before later deleting the post.
Rumors of another Favre comeback were sparked earlier this month when Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt told NFL.com, "I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning, but I don't see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter. It's awfully hard for [Favre] to go to a team and be a backup."
But Favre's great friend, Minnesota Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell, told FOX Sports North that Favre was very content in retirement.
"I talk to him at least once a week," Longwell said. "We are good friends. He is doing great; his family is doing great."
"He is really excited about not having any questions about whether he is coming back or not. There is no doubt. He is really doing well."
