Nasdaq OMX announced it will use the Cisco network platform for its options trading exchange and data center.
The Nasdaq OMX PHLX is now operating the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series to lower latency and jitter. The exchange operator added that by using Cisco, it can add data center capacity without taking on the additional cost of new information technology personnel.
"With Cisco at our side, we never have to go back and re-architect, but can continually use our IT investments to build on our foundation," Lou Modano, Nasdaq's global head of infrastructure said in a statement.
The Nasdaq options market represents nearly 27 percent of all U.S equity options trading.
