U.S. stocks traded higher Thursday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 73 points to 12564, the Standard & Poor's 500 added 7.1 points to 1325 and the Nasdaq Composite increased 15 points to 2812. Among the companies whose shares are actively trading in the session are J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM), ConocoPhillips (COP) and Southern Union Co. (SUG).
J.P. Morgan Chase's ($40.80, +$1.18, +2.98%) second-quarter profit jumped 13%, as the nation's second-biggest bank by assets posted an unexpected jump on its top line and sharply lower credit-loss provisions.
