TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Workers at Caldwell Zoo say they didn't just loose an animal...the lost a family member.
"Chico," a 46-year-old African Elephant died on Saturday after living at the zoo for eight years.
His death on Saturday morning was unexpected. Those who cared for him will miss him the most and say the zoo won't be the same.
"Chico was a magnificent animal. One of the most magnificent animals we have ever had here at Caldwell Zoo," said Hayes Caldwell of Caldwell Zoo.
Pathologists with Texas A & M are performing a necropsy to find Chico's cause of death.
