A Glencoe man was arrested when he fell off the bicycle he rode to the police department to report his drugs had been stolen, Glencoe Police Chief David Colvard said.
Houston Wade Simmons, 46, fell off the bicycle when he reached the police department on U.S. Highway 431 and was arrested for public intoxication, Colvard said.
After Simmons was arrested, Colvard said, a plastic bag with six methadone pills and $151 inside was found in his pocket.
Colvard said Simmons also was charged with harassment, a misdemeanor, after someone in his neighborhood signed a warrant because Simmons allegedly was riding his bicycle through their yard yelling, “I love methadone. I love methadone.”
Simmons told officers, according to Colvard, that he was coming to the police department to report the theft of more than 200 methadone pills. He told officers he was unsure what happened to the pills.
Simmons was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a felony, for the drugs in his pocket.
