Clarence Clemons, Nate Dogg, M-Bone, Gil-Scott Heron and Teena Marie were paid homage at the BET awards show on June 26. Celebrities reflected and honored the lives of late legendary musicians and remembered their contribution to the music as well as black entertainment.
Clemons, the member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, who suffered a stroke earlier this month and died later, was remembered and honored in a solo sax performance by a fellow saxophonist. Warren G and Snoop Dogg rocked all-black ensemble and performed "Regulate" for Nate's tribute, according to a report inaceshowbiz.com.
"We love you, bro," said Cali Swag District who were also joined by Doug E. Fresh to praise M-Bone. Queen Latifah honored Gil-Scott with his infamous "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" poem. And Teena was remembered as "one of the greatest soul singers," said the report.
2011 BET Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles,California. Chris Brown dominated the event with five honors to his credit.
