Guy Fieri has showcased the characters and menus of more than a dozen Valley restaurants on his popular Food Network show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."
After the show airs, business usually picks up as Fieri fans flock to try the featured restaurant.
Eve Collins, who owns Chino Bandido with her husband, Frank, credits "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" for helping the nearly two-decade old restaurant get through the recession.
"We were pretty busy already," she said. "But what he did was make it solid. Everything rolled off of what Guy Fieri did for us."
Matt Pool, owner of Matt's Big Breakfast, agreed with Collins.
"People ask me all the time what he's really like," Pool said. "He's not acting, he's a real guy and he really talks like that. For a guy we've never done anything for, he's sure done a lot for us."
Check out what Fieri had to say about a few of the places he likes in the Phoenix area.
Known for: using many ingredients grown next door at the Farm at Agritopia. The menu ranges from burgers and fries to pizza and salads.
What Guy said: "What a great story about the old house and the garden there and their attention to farm-to-table food. If you want to call it a fast-food joint, that's the kind I want to go to."
Known for: hand-stretched pizzas baked in a 900-plus-degree wood-fired oven, officially certified authentic by the world-wide pizza authority Verace Pizza Napoletana, house-made mozzarella.
What Guy said: "That father-and-son team were some of the funniest people I've met in my career. In fact, they were one of my inspirations to branch out and get my own wood-fired pizza oven. I heard they blew up after the show aired, and I hope they're still rocking and rolling."
