House won't cut off Libya money...River flows over levees...Peter Falk dead at 83

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House has turned back a Republican-led effort to cut off money for military hostilities in the Libyan war. The vote was 238-180. It came after the House had overwhelmingly rejected a largely symbolic measure to give President Barack Obama the authority to continue U.S. involvement in the military operation against Moammar Gadhafi's forces. The funding measure would have barred drone attacks and airstrikes but allowed the United States to continue actions in support of NATO.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the Souris (SUHR'-is) River is flowing over most levees in Minot (MY'-naht) as it surges past a 130-year-old record level. Dalrymple spoke after a helicopter tour today. Water is several feet deep in parts of Minot, where about one-fourth of the population has been evacuated.The Souris is expected to rise another 6 feet by this weekend. City officials expect to lose thousands of houses and hundreds of businesses.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — State lawmakers in Albany, N.Y., are working to clear away other business, to make way for a vote on whether to legalize gay marriage in the state. A state Senate leader says the 32 Republicans who hold the majority in that chamber could meet later today to decide whether to send the bill to the floor for a vote.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Peter Falk -- best known as the rumpled TV detective "Columbo" -- has died. He was 83. A statement from a family friend says Falk died yesterday in his Beverly Hills home.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Google is confirming that federal regulators have begun a formal antitrust review of its business practices. In a blog post, the Internet search giant said it received notification from the Federal Trade Commission of the review yesterday. It's expected to focus in large part on whether Google abuses its dominance of Internet search to extend its influence into other lucrative online markets, such as mapping, comparison shopping and travel.
