PEABODY — The 18-year-old actress and singer Selena Gomez will visit the North Shore to meet with fans during a question-and-answer session in Peabody.
Gomez is scheduled to make an appearance at the Northshore Mall on Saturday, June 25, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Best known for her role on the Disney television show "Wizards of Waverly Place," Gomez is both an actress and a pop singer — and the girlfriend of pop star Justin Bieber.
Her visit to Peabody is part of a 10-city mall tour to promote her new movie, "Monte Carlo," which opens in theaters on July 1, according to a press release from the Northshore Mall.
The free event is open to the public, and activities throughout the day (from 1 to 7 p.m.) will include "Princess Makeovers" and special photo stations, which complement the theme of Gomez's upcoming film, in which she plays an accidental heiress who gets to live like royalty through a case of mistaken identity.
Let's just hope her visit doesn't draw the same volume of crowds that flocked to see Jessica Simpson at Walmart in Danvers in March 2004. Roughly 5,000 fans swarmed the area and waited hours for a smile and an autograph from Simpson. The singer had to be whisked away by police escorts when crowds mobbed her car, and she left without greeting her adoring fans.
